"Are you sure you want to divorce me?"
Angel Torres looked at the divorce agreement handed to her, and all the joy in her heart disappeared without a trace, leaving her feeling ice-cold all over.
"Yes. She's coming back."
Today was Angel's third anniversary of marriage with Heller Foster. She had specially gone to the market to buy groceries and prepared a sumptuous meal. However, she only got a divorce agreement in return.
What a 'surprise'!
"If you're not satisfied with the clause in the agreement, you can tell me."
Heller looked down on the obedient and gentle woman in front of him. He looked like a ruthless businessman who was negotiating a business contract with others.
Angel lowered her head and skimmed through the contents. The compensation for her in the divorce agreement was generous, including many prime location storefronts, a villa downtown, and an additional ten million in cash. All in all, it was worth at least two billion dollars.
It was a large sum of money, enough for Angel to live a carefree life.
After three years of loveless and sexless marriage, she got two billion in compensation.
What more could Angel ask for?
But she did not marry Heller for money.
Without hearing a sound for a long time, Heller lit a cigarette and took a deep breath before speaking, "You can tell me if you are not satisfied."
Angel raised her eyes to meet the man's cold eyes and asked softly, "Heller, have you ever had a moment of affection for me in the past three years?"
"No."
Heller answered without hesitation, dispelling her last bit of hope. Angel felt her heart was as painful as a blunt knife rolling over it.
"Oh, I see..."
Angel's eyelashes fluttered slightly to hide the bitterness in her eyes, but in an instant, a gentle smile returned to her face.
"I made your favorite dishes. Would you like to have the last dinner with me?"
Heller frowned and remained silent.
Angel forced back her tears and served Heller the food.
At this moment, Heller received a call.
"Heller, it hurts so much. Can you come to the hospital and keep me company?"
A soft female voice came from the other end of the phone. Since Angel was close to him, she could hear everything on the phone.
Angel clenched her fists tightly.
"Okay, be good. I'll come over now. What do you want to eat? I'll bring it for you."
He had never spoken to her so gently before, and Angel's expression turned gloomy. Perhaps this was the difference between love and not loving!
Seeing that Heller was about to leave, Angel quickly reached out to grab the corner of his clothes and pleaded, "Heller, can you have dinner with me before you leave?"
"Angel, stop being unreasonable."
Heller coldly pushed away her hand and left without looking back.
Angel covered her aching heart, unable to hold back her tears any longer.
Three years ago, Heller asked her to marry him. She had secretly been in love with Heller, so she agreed without hesitation.
After marriage, she became a full-time housewife at home, taking care of his daily life. Even if Heller did not intimate with her, she would still be satisfied to only stay by his side.
Half a month ago, when Heller's grandfather passed away, she accompanied Heller to deal with the funeral. After that, Heller began to return home less frequently. And tonight, he asked for a divorce. It was all because his lover, Polina Stewart, had returned to the country.
Angel sat in the living room melancholic until she felt her body go stiff. She got up and threw the cold food into the trash can, imaging that she could also throw her broken heart into the trash can too.
After taking a shower, Angel lay on the cold bed, and the air still had the aroma belonging to Heller, which made her unable to fall asleep for a long time.
"Ding!" The sound of her cell phone ringing broke the quiet night.
She thought it was Heller, but when she opened it, she found that it was a strange number sending her a few pictures.
In the photos, Heller was leaning on Polina's shoulder. His eyes closed, and he slept soundly.
[Angel, I'm the one that Heller loves. There's no use for you to pester him. Don't embarrass yourself.]
Angel held her phone, looking at the warm and loving photo, feeling even more painful.
She sat until dawn when Heller's assistant, Chasel Corsini, came in with the divorce agreement. Looking at the pale and haggard woman, although Chasel felt sorry for her, he still said, "Mrs. Foster, Mr. Foster wants you to sign it. Any demands can be fulfilled."
Angel remained silent for a long time, then picked up the pen and signed her name. She did not want any compensation from Heller and chose to leave without anything. She did not marry Heller for money back then.
Chasel was surprised. "Mrs. Foster, do you want nothing at all?"
"No."
Angel didn't take anything away. She just packed up a few sets of clothes and left the house where she had lived for three years.
Three years ago, Angel married Heller with joy, but now, she was left alone, full of sadness.
When she left the house, she felt empty and had no one to rely on. But at this point, life had to go on. She couldn't ruin her life for Heller.
Since Heller didn't love her, she won't pester him.
Angel took out her phone and dialed a number. "Jewell, I'm divorced."
Jewell Lennox arrived very quickly. The car stopped beside her, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"It's a wise decision for you to divorce him."
"Cut the crap and drive."
Angel took out her phone, hacked into the monitoring system, and erased all the records of her traces.
Angel took a last look at the place where she had lived for three years and left without any reluctance.
