Lucille sighed, "I didn't expect that people would be so enthusiastic in Husert City nowadays."
"Well?" Markus withdrew his eyes and looked at her.
"Ms. Toland is obviously not responsible for that. But she still reminds you guys when something goes wrong." Lucille's voice was soft.
Markus didn't continue the conversation, but asked her, "How are you doing in your years of study abroad?"
Lucille lowered her eyes to avoid his gaze, "Just so-so."
She didn't want to talk about her experiences abroad.
She didn't want the man in front of her to know.
"What are your plans for the future?" Markus asked again.
"I'm going to settle in Husert City." Lucille smiled shyly.
"Help your father with the Brewster Group?"
"No plans at the moment. But my family thinks the same as you do."
At that moment, Markus' cell phone rang.
Lucille indicated to him to answer the phone first, quietly sipping her juice.
Markus quickly hung up the phone.
Lucille saw that he looked serious and realized that something was going on.
"If you're busy, go ahead." She said thoughtfully.
Markus gave her a deep look and said, "I'll call you when I get back," and got up to leave.
Coming out of the restaurant, Markus glanced at his wristwatch.
He had to be at Wheatley Hospital in half an hour, but it would take at least an hour and a half to get Owen back to the Wheatley's Mansion to pick up the car and come back for him.
Thinking for a moment, he called Owen.
"Check Serena's phone."
At Hoyle Garage.
Serena changed out of her mechanic's clothes and came out of the dressing room.
"Serena, I love you so much!" Alyvia kissed her on the cheek. "You're a good driver and can fix all kinds of cars. But it's a pity that you're a woman."
"If you were a man, I wouldn't be able to hold back my love for you."
She liked cool, skillful men like this.
But the person who met her requirements didn't match her gender.
Serena gave her a squint, "Stop. I told you that you couldn't have less than three professional car mechanic senior employees here."
"Oops, the business is not very good." Alyvia hugged her and pouted prettily, "Actually, it's mostly because I have you."
"What if I'm not available today?"
"Then submit to the will of God," Alyvia said casually.
Serena didn't say anything. She just picked up her backpack and opened it to take out her phone.
There was a call coming right now.
It was an unfamiliar number, and Serena hesitantly refused to answer it.
"Who is it?" Alyvia asked curiously.
"I think it's a harassment call." Serena didn't take it seriously.
But not long after she hung up the phone, Owen called again.
Serena picked up, only to hear Owen say, "Ms. Toland, Mr. Wheatley called you."
"Huh?" Serena froze, then looked at her phone.
She received a text message.
"Drive back and pick me up immediately."
Serena frowned.
What a bossy tone to ask for help!
"Who is it that is so arrogant!" Alyvia saw the content of the text message and asked unhappily.
"A capitalist," Serena replied unconcernedly, then pinched Alyvia's soft face. "I still have things to do, so I'll leave first."
Alyvia pouted her lips and didn't force her to stay.
Serena drove the car away from the auto body shop and quickly returned to the entrance of the restaurant.
She saw the figure of Markus. He was standing at the edge, smoking a cigarette.
When he saw the car stop in front of him, he put out his cigarette.
"Here are your car keys."
Serena got out of the car, threw the car keys straight to Markus, and then was about to leave.
Markus looked at the car keys in his hand and frowned.
"Wait." He said to stop her.
Serena stopped and looked back at him.
She thought, "Is he going to talk to me about the medical equipment?"
Instead, she waited for a command from Markus. "You drive."
The keys then fell into Serena's hands once again.
"Markus, what do you mean?"
Making her his driver?
After making her a car mechanic, he was now making her a driver?
Was she being used as a laborer?
"I'm not used to driving."
"Help me drive. I'll think about what you're asking."
Serena was thinking of rebelling against evil capitalism. But when she heard Markus' words, she changed her mind immediately!
"Where are you going?"
At that moment, the voice announcing the news came.
Serena turned her head to see the hot news being broadcast on the display of the convenience store.
"The Wheatley Group's newly imported medical equipment had an experimental malfunction half an hour ago. The doctors were injured and are currently in serious condition."
Serena frowned and stared at Markus, asking. "Your medical equipment is already in use?"
Why did he say the timing was uncertain?
"It's a trial that a volunteer signed up for," Markus explained, "Not for the heart disease category. It's a batch of equipment that arrived at the hospital a month earlier."
"You drive me to the Wheatley Group. I can get the people at the hospital to put the medical equipment into use early and can give you a spot in the first batch."
Markus promised her.
"Really?"
"Yes."
Serena got right into the driver's seat.
Markus opened the door and got into the back seat.
"Make sure you're there by 10:30."
"Got it." Serena started the car, turned it around, and drove to Wheatley Hospital.
Along the way, Serena skillfully avoided various private cars that wanted to overtake her and even overtook others' cars.
It was as if she had calculated the timing of the traffic lights, and the light was green all the way through.
Markus sat in the back seat with a grim look.
He raised his hand and grabbed the handle to prevent the sudden braking from throwing him out.
With the speed of the car, his other hand resting on his knee clenched into a fist with veins bulging.
Serena, in the driver's seat, looked at him through the rearview mirror and smiled.
After the tires scraped against the ground with a harsh sound, the car stopped firmly in front of the hospital.
"Mr. Wheatley, here we are." Serena reminded him in a gentle voice.
She unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car, opening the door for him in a rare and considerate manner.
Markus got out of the car with a grim face.
Serena could clearly see that his face was a little pale.
"Mr. Wheatley, I hope you remember what you just promised me."
As he walked into the lobby of the Wheatley Group, Serena reminded him loudly.
Just as she was about to leave, a man came out of the hospital and called out to her, "Ms. Toland, Mr. Wheatley asked you to wait for him outside."
Serena stopped, turned to look at the figure being surrounded by a crowd of people walking into the hospital, and said, "Okay."
