Chapter 6 Whether he can get through depends entirely on himself

He thought for a moment and felt that he had not made himself clear enough, and added, "He could have had a decent life for these years with the help of Jason, but now you've run him away, your father has no pension, no porridge to eat, and we Doris still have to go to school."

"I didn't say I would support you and your daughter," Nancy didn't dare to speak out, fearing that her honest and taciturn father would suffer more from her.

Seeing that she was holding back her anger, Carl sighed at her and, rarely angry, shouted to May, "No one will think you're mute if you don't speak, money money money only see money, if you have the ability, go to the rich, what do you do to me, a man with no money and no ability?"

It was rare for Carl to say so much, and it was rare for him to lose his temper. Nancy's heart ached, and she turned her face away before tears fell.

She raised her hand to pretend to wipe her sweat, and Nancy wiped away her tears, but her red eyes still made Carl feel uncomfortable and silent.

After clearing her things, Nancy took a bath and lay down on the bed, her body aching so much that she couldn't sleep. Two lines of silent tears fell into the pillow, quickly wetting a large area of it.

She couldn't sleep...

Closing her eyes, it was a dazzling white light, and Nancy suddenly remembered Eric, what was he thinking while lying on the operating table with his eyes wide open? ! Does it hurt? !

"How could such a serious injury not hurt? !" Nancy sighed, thinking that she had to learn from Eric, who was a life story of inspiration and a terrifying strength.

In pain, Nancy was trying hard to turn over when her phone rang.

When she reached for it, it was the strange number from before. Her nerves tightened and Nancy jumped up, "Hello."

She didn't dare to ask, fearing something might have happened to Eric.

But the person on the phone didn't seem to have any intention of giving her some time to recover. They hurriedly said, "Doctor Nancy, come here quickly. The colonel has a slight fever and his forehead is burning fiercely. The doctors in the hospital are examining him, but no one dares to give him any medicine."

"All right, I'll be there right away." Nancy jumped up. Although she had packed up her things, most of them had been stuffed up by Jason haphazardly, and she couldn't tell if they were clean or not, so she had to open the closet and pick out an old dress from before to change into.

With her hair curled up haphazardly, Nancy tied it up with a rubber band and only took the keys to her phone and some cash.

As she passed the living room, a hoarse voice in the darkness asked her, "Where are you going so late?" !"

Despite recognizing her father's voice, Nancy was startled and felt as if she were a high school girl who had sneaked out in the middle of the night.

"There's something wrong with the patient at the hospital. I'm his attending physician and I have to rush over to check on him." Nancy spoke as steadily as she could, for fear that Carl would recognize her trembling voice.

She dared not say that she was a very serious patient, and if anything really happened, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"I'll take you there," Carl quickly got up, took his clothes and put them on. "I'm not at ease with you going out alone in the middle of the night."

When she heard Carl say this, Nancy realized it was already a little past one in the morning.

"All right." Nancy didn't reject Carl's fatherly love, and she knew he wasn't happy either.

In a rush to the hospital, before Nancy could stand steady, she saw Ben sprinting towards her at a speed of a hundred meters. "Doctor Nancy, go and see him quickly. The fever is very serious. I'm almost dying of anEricty."

Seeing an old man following Nancy, she asked again, "This is..."

"This is my dad," Nancy said in a hurry, turning to Carl. "Dad, I'm going there first. I don't know when I'll be busy. You don't have to wait for me."

"It's okay. You go and do your business. I'll wait here." Carl looked around, walked over to the blue plastic stool and sat down.

Ben looked at him, then at Nancy who was running as fast as the wind, and called out to her back, "Don't worry, Dr. Nancy. I'll take good care of your old man."

Coming to a sudden stop, the huge inertia almost caused Nancy to stumble and bump into the wall, and she turned and gave Ben a grateful look, "Thank you."

Having said that, he turned around and ran away in a hurry.

Eric, who had been pushed out of the ward, had been sent around all the examination rooms, and Nancy was looking through the data, her face darkened. Nancy's eyes reddened as she looked at Eric, who had a high fever but still had an extraordinary demeanor.

Tonight will be a hurdle in his life, and whether he can get through it depends on himself...

The room was clean and tidy with no furnishings, and Nancy brought a stool and sat by the bed to keep watch over Eric.

At the tip of his straight nose was a furrowed brow, and his lips were slightly pursed. Nancy stared at him for a long time and couldn't help sighing, "You are such a strong man, you will surely get through this. I believe in you."

Looking at the phone time, Nancy sent a text message to her father. While she was halfway through editing, Ben came in and said, "Doctor Nancy, go and rest for a while. You've been busy all night. It's really hard on you."

"As it should be," Nancy forced a smile. "My dad is..."

"Oh, I was just about to tell you this," Ben handed her a cup of hot milk tea. "The old gentleman said he would wait for you, it was too late and he wouldn't be at ease if you went back alone, so I made the hospital clear a bed for him to rest and bought some late-night snacks to eat with him."

"Thank you," Nancy took a sip of the hot milk tea, felt a little better all over, thought for a moment and took out a handful of cash. "How much, I'll treat you."

Ben knew she was referring to late-night snack money and quickly waved his hand. "No need, there's not much money, and besides, you've had a hard time in the middle of the night. You're a girl too."

As he spoke, Ben saw her swollen and red eyes and thought she must have been crying for a long time before.

With a pursed smile, Nancy got up with her cup of milk tea. "I'm going to see my dad. I'll be back in a moment."

"All right," Ben nodded, then quickly changed his words, "you can go and sleep for a while, and if anything happens, I'll call your phone."

Nancy was stunned. "All right."

When the elevator came down to the first floor, Nancy remembered that she had forgotten to ask Ben where she had arranged her father to go. Ben probably thought of the same question and sent a text message: Room 3 on the floor where your office is located.

With a simple reply of "Thank you", Nancy walked towards the office while sipping her hot milk tea.

Dad, why are you squatting here? !" At the door of Room 3, a figure crouching against the wall made Nancy frown. She hurried over and saw that four or five cigarette butts had already been thrown at his feet. "Don't smoke so much. It's bad for your health."

Carl gave her a glance. "Are you all done? !"
