Chapter 16 I have no penchant for giving you a green hat

Sterling's eyes dimmed. He had got the answer, but it was like a knife stabbing into his heart. He would rather Olivia slapped him a few times or gave him a good scolding than a calm blessing.

He wanted to ask Olivia if she had ever loved him, but the words on the tip of his tongue turned into an 'I'm sorry'.

Olivia smiled nonchalantly: "I know you have no choice. As the eldest son of the House of De Rossi, you have no choice but to take responsibility for the interests of the family. Even if the man the House of De Rossi asked you to marry was Delilah, you would not hesitate."

House of De Rossi's power is not as strong as it used to be, so he has to huddle with House of Bernadotte to keep his reputation as the top political figure.

Her understanding, her kindness, was a bitter pill for him, after all, she had been the only one he loved so deeply for so many years.

The night wind blew, disheveled her hair, and he wanted to gather her hair back as he had done before, but his raised hand slipped feebly and patted her on the shoulder.

Olivia, you are indeed the one who understands me best.

She pursed her lips and smiled. It was strange that he had not kept his promise, and she had no anger at all. Maybe there was no love and no hate. She had only gratitude for all his efforts over the years, but no feelings. Sometimes she felt like she was almost cold.

"Sterling, thank you for your kindness to me all these years, and Delilah and I will remember your kindness."

Sterling swallowed the bitterness and forced a smile. "Olivia, stop it. You're making me worse."

The two fell silent, only hearing the sound of the wind.

For a long time Sterling turned his head and looked at her: "Olivia, may I hug you?"

Olivia was silent for a moment, and finally nodded.

Sterling held her tightly: "Olivia, I can't protect you anymore. Remember to take good care of yourself. Evander is not an easy man. He probably has ulterior motives for marrying you."

At the corner of the rooftop, someone had already captured the scene with a mobile phone.

He then let her go slowly, even though he was reluctant, he could only let go. Some people turn around for a lifetime.

In fact, she had not yet figured out Evander's purpose of marrying her, but when she thought of the promise between them, she decided to take a gamble.

"I don't want to find out what his intentions are, but as long as he's good to me, I'm sure I won't let him down."

She was a smart man who didn't want to care too much and just wanted to live more comfortably under limited conditions. Besides, she always felt that she had nothing Evander could use, and Evander didn't need her as a bargaining chip when it came to power, background or wealth.

A glimmer of darkness flashed in Sterling's eyes. The secret had always been a scar hanging over him and the whole House of De Rossi, and no one wanted to mention it, even to the one they loved the most.

"Then I wish you all happiness."

He then turned his head to look into the distant sky, and when he suddenly noticed the faint light opposite him, he immediately realized something and said in a panic, "Be careful!"

He quickly jumped up and hugged Olivia and rolled to the ground. With a "bang", a bullet hole the size of a fingernail appeared on the skylight.

The bullet grazed Sterling's scalp, and both of them were gasping for breath as if they had survived a disaster, only to hear a violent outburst: "Sterling, what are you doing!"

Evander strode over, lifted his boots and kicked him hard in the chest, even pulling out his pistol and pressing it against his forehead.

Olivia quickly stood up and looked at him indifferently: "Evander, someone attacked me just now."

She was not in a hurry to explain anything to him, but calmly pointed to the bullet hole in the skylight.

Evander nimbly put away his pistol, gave Sterling a violent glare, then whispered a few instructions to Jasper, who looked to the other side and acted quickly.

Evander clutched her wrist tightly and pulled her down with great force.

Sterling looked at the staggering Olivia and was about to say something, but when he saw her turn and shake her head at him, he suddenly shut his mouth. He knew that the more he said something, the more difficult Olivia's situation might be.

Evander dragged her into the elevator, suddenly cutting her hands back to the top of her head, her handsome face almost pressed against her face, cold and icy, he reached out and struck her chest with force: "Olivia, I don't care about any shady dealings you had with him before, but now you're my Evander's wife and you have to do your duty. If you want to put a green hat on me, you can try it."

As he spoke, he had already pulled out a pistol and held it to her forehead.

She raised her eyes to him, and could even see the bulging veins on his forehead and the ferocity between his eyebrows and eyes, as if in front of her, this man was always prone to rage.

She leaned forward slightly and tapped her toes to kiss his chin. "Don't worry, I don't have the habit of giving you a green hat unless you like it."

When her soft lips touched his resolute chin, his hostility vanished, as if she had been his Nemesis by nature.

As the elevator was about to reach the first floor, which was crowded with people, he let go of her hands, bent down and picked her up, gritting his teeth and saying, "Go back and deal with you, this fox spirit."

When the elevator opened, the handsome and haughty General Evander strode out with Olivia in his arms.

Everyone gasped and clutched their pounding hearts.

"Wow, General Evander is so cool."

"I didn't expect the cold General Evander to have a tender side."

"The woman to be General Evander is so lucky."

Freya, who had seen the scene from the second floor, suddenly smashed the glass in her hand.

"Just a bastard, what right does he have to be happy!"

Lily came over and covered her mouth: "Little master, be quiet. If this secret gets out, our whole House of Bernadotte will be ruined."

Freya grinned: "Mom, I'm the eldest daughter of the House of Bernadotte, and I should be the one engaged to Sterling. Why should I now be the despised mistress and she be the high general lady? I won't agree!"

Lily sneered, "Let that wild girl be proud for a few days. Do you think Evander would still want her if he knew her true identity? Besides, she won't be able to leave for a while. Let's think of a way to deal with her slowly. Be careful of the baby in your womb."

Freya stroked her belly with a sinister smile on the corner of her mouth.

Evander carried Olivia into the car and found a stack of photos in the back seat. When he saw the men and women in the photos, he flew into a rage and threw the photos hard at Olivia's face.

"Give me a reasonable explanation, or I'll kill you today!"

He turned his head and shouted at Jasper, "Get down and get back ten meters!"

It was the rage before a storm, and Jasper threw Olivia a self-lucky look and got out of the car nimbly.
