There was already a hint of exasperation in her words. Henry wasn't there at the time. How could such a disgraceful thing come out of his mouth?
Oh no, my head started short-circuiting again. To say such things in front of Bailey, it's no wonder that Henry secretly pinched himself.
"Cough cough, these things will naturally come out when the police are interrogating." Henry found himself getting more and more skilled at making up lies.
Bailey's face turned red all of a sudden. She never expected that such an embarrassing incident would be questioned by the police, which meant that a lot of people had already known about it.
If she had known this earlier, she should have sewed up the mouths of John and Jam, so that they wouldn't have said anything and ruined her reputation.
As a coach of women's self-defense, I couldn't protect myself and was tricked by men, which was a devastating blow to my career.
But there was nothing I could do at the time. The man was so powerful that I was like a plaything in front of him and had no ability to fight back. With a casual pull, I was involuntarily thrown into his arms.
And a slap in the chest... That feeling...
The man had a pair of enchanting eyes, and his gaze was like poisonous candy, captivating.
When Bailey thought of this, his heart raced and his mind was in a jumble, like a tangled rope that could not be torn apart or untangled.
Looking up, those eyes were staring at him from the opposite side.
Right or wrong, it's this pair of eyes, deep and expressive, clear and bright, yet like an ancient well, bottomless and profound.
That man is here!
Bailey's heart gave a jolt and he almost shouted.
But when she took a closer look, it was Henry sitting opposite her.
It was only then that Bailey came to her senses and realized that she had been lost in it, blurring the line between reality and memory.
It has to be admitted that Henry's eyes are very similar to the man's eyes, but not.
The man's gaze was resolute, full of masculine strength, as if it were a torch that could cut through the darkness.
Henry, though he had such eyes, had no masculine charm at all in his clear and handsome appearance.
Bailey shook his head in disappointment. It was impossible. Henry was not even one percent like that man. Didn't he say he would protect himself from female harassment?
"It seems you remember." With a lazy smile on his cheek, Henry hit the nail on the head about her thoughts.
The teasing and frivolity in his tone made Bailey feel embarrassed.
He had intended to show off his strength, but instead Henry had brought out his cards and made fun of him here.
"Henry, don't look down on people, dare you fight me?" Bailey was infuriated.
"I'm just joking. Why are you really angry?" Henry laughed when he saw Bailey staring at him like an enraged little tiger. It was good to be angry and it was good to be shy, which showed that she, like herself, still had a vivid recollection of the scene and feelings.
"Keep that strength, don't forget, you're going to protect me." Seeing House of Morris on the horizon, Henry said softly. From Bailey, Henry seemed to see himself a few years ago, hot-tempered and irritable. It was after that special duty that he gradually learned to endure and show weakness from Alvin.
There was a sense of reconciliation in the tone, and Bailey felt embarrassed to lose his temper.
Looking down, I saw the long dress I was wearing. It was pink and tender, with exquisite lace and swaying petals. Only then did I remember that I had come to the banquet to dress up as a lady today. If I didn't speak and act gently, I would be letting down this dress.
The car came to a steady stop in front of House of Morris. Alvin opened the door and asked Henry and Bailey to get out.
Lynn, with her hair tied up, dressed in a deep purple dress with gold trim, had a host smile on her face. Her makeup tonight was delicate and refined, complementing her skin tone and outfit, highlighting her charm. She looked so young that Bailey thought she was Henry's sister at first.
"Miss Bailey, please come in." Lynn led the way and let Bailey and Henry into the living room.
The House of Morris's living room was decorated anew, surrounded by sky-blue and white silk, pure and noble, like the ripples of the blue sea. Gorgeous satin was laid out on the long banquet table, and each guest was adorned with an ornament such as red coral, conch shells, and little dolphin dolls, to emphasize the theme of the ocean dinner. With the addition of lighting, it gives the illusion of being in a crystal palace beneath the sea.
A man and a woman have already taken their seats.
The woman was wearing a deep red off-the-shoulder fishtail dress and an exaggerated ruby necklace that sparkled around her neck. The man was dressed in a black suit, with a small part of a white handkerchief sticking out from the pocket of the suit.
"My mom was inspired by the catwalk show of Spring/Summer Fashion Week to set the theme for tonight's banquet. Seeing this, I was getting a bit restless and wished I could swim in the tropical ocean right away."
The woman was completely lost in her own imagination, talking non-stop and not noticing someone coming in. The man beside her was more perceptive and immediately noticed Henry and Bailey.
When his gaze met Henry and Bailey, he seemed to be struck by an electric shock and jumped up from his chair at once. A look of disbelief appeared on his face.
The woman was slow to react. It was only at this moment that she noticed something was amiss with her companion. She followed the man's gaze and then froze.
Keith and Paula never expected to see Henry and Bailey here.
Ex-boyfriend, ex-girlfriend, current boyfriend, current girlfriend.
The relationship among the four is so intricate that it's like an integrated circuit board.
"What's wrong with you guys?" Lynn sensed the cold and stiff atmosphere among the four of them.
"Lynn, there's such a coincidence in the world that we've met before." Henry sat down in his seat, pulled the stool back and said to Bailey, "Sit down, dear."
"Then sit down and talk. I have other guests." Lynn turned and left.
Paula, who had been chatting with great enthusiasm just now, was speechless and looked at Bailey with a hostile gaze. If glances could kill, Bailey would probably have died hundreds of times by now.
Keith had a gloomy face, his gaze wandering only over a tree of coral ornaments in front of him.
Paula looked at the pink dress, which made Bailey's graceful figure and noble demeanor stand out particularly, and she herself was looked down by her.
And the dress that was supposed to be on her.
Furious.
I can't stand it anymore.
Paula jumped up all of a sudden.
