I watched as Bruce came and stood in front of me.
"Come on, Calista." He pulled my arm and I sadly followed him. "Ty, bring her bag." He shouted, not bothering to turn around. I turned my head to see a huge buff guy nod and pick up my fallen bag. My passport and stuff was in there, I hoped I got it back.
Bruce opened the doors to the house and it was filled with people. They all stared at me with disgust on their face. They wouldn't think that if they knew my story, I thought, trying to reassure myself that I wasn’t what their looks were telling me I was.
Bruce led me up 2 lots of stairs until he stopped in front of a door. He knocked on it lightly and then opened it. He walked in and pulled me in with him. He bowed before regaining posture.
"Here Alpha, this is the rogue I was telling you about. Her name is Calista." Bruce spoke. I looked up to see a pair of piercing grey eyes staring at me. They were narrowed and held confusion along with hatred. He put the pen he was holding down and rest his hands onto the table.
"Thanks Beta. You may now leave." He said, his voice deep. Bruce nodded and left after pushing me into a chair. I heard the door close and I stared at my lap awkwardly. "Who are you?" The Alpha asked. I looked up and stared at his glare which actually kind of scared me.
"I am a rogue. I ran away from my pack. I was going to move to another country but your Beta caught me at the airport." I said, my words slowly fading to a whisper. He nodded and then leaned back on his chair.
"Why did you run away?" He asked. I gulped nervously, not really wanting to tell him the real reason.
"Personal reasons." I whispered.
He shook his head, "Calista, I need to know. If it's a good enough reason, then I’ll allow you to stay here or flee. If not then I have the right to kill you." I cringed at the last 2 words but finally sighed.
"Ok, I’ll tell you but I ask for my hands to be free so I may be comfortable while I tell you my story." I said, hoping he trusted me enough. He stared at me for a while but then soon stood up.
I also stood up and turned my back to him. I felt as he lightly opened the knot and then my hands were free. I pulled them in front of me and examined them, glad to find that they were fine.
I turned around and saw that he was still standing behind me, staring at my eyes. I felt a bit uncomfortable and took a step back before coughing. He shook his head and went to sit back on his chair, while running his hand through his dark brown hair. I also sat on my chair and brought my knees up and laid my chin on them, staring at him.
He smiled at me and nodded before leaning back. I sighed and told him everything. Of yesterday morning when I found Neil with that girl. But I didn't tell him what Alpha or what pack - although I hated him, I didn’t want to break Neil’s pride. At the end I wasn't crying. I had shed my last tears last night.
I stared at the Alpha as he looked at me, sympathy and pity clear in his eyes. "I'm so sorry." He said, his voice low as if worried that the slightest of noise will send me crying. I nodded and turned my head and laid my cheek on my chin. "Can-can I see your mark." I looked up and saw him already walking towards me.
I slowly got up and pulled my collar more to the right and tilted my head to the left. He came towards me and stared at it, shock clear in his eyes. He reached out and stroked it with his thumb. I didn't feel anything when he did that, it was as though he was just touching skin.
He pulled his hand back before pulling me into a hug. I hugged him back, glad for the comfort. "I'm sorry Calista. But, if you would like, you may join my pack?" He pulled back and I stared at his grey eyes. I slowly nodded and gave him a weak smile.
“That would help, a lot.” I said. Maybe this can be my new beginning.
"Great. Ok, I am Alpha Rivers but everybody calls me Rivers." He spoke as he walked back to his table and sat down and shuffled through some papers. "Bruce is my Beta; don't be mad at him.” He picked up a piece of paper and looked through it while I sat back down on my seat.
"Uhm, so I stay here?" I asked. He looked up and smiled while nodding.
"Yes, and there seems to be a room available right next to Bruce’s." He stated, looking down at a paper. I nodded and grabbed my bag.
"Where is it?" I asked. He got up and made his way to the door with me following.
"I'll show you."
I nodded and we started walking the down the stairs.
"So where is the Luna?" I asked, just realising that he didn’t ask his Luna for her opinion for me to join their pack. Neil always used to ask me, even though I told his it was completely up to him.
